The Republic of Yemen : The Republic of Yemen is a raw and soulful place.. having just came out of instability and warring in fairly recent years, much of the city is still left in ruins and the people in poverty. A number of new and modern buildings have mushroomed here and there, starkly contrasting the old low-rise buildings around it, as have many richer Yemeni strikingly stand out amongst the poorer majority for decades. As I have found in my 2005 trip in India, the common people of Yemen are generally happy, approachable, and eager to embrace exchange of knowledge and foreign cultures. It was a pity that I couldn't have spent more time there.. but the two days that I spent at Babel Yemen (the old town marketplace), I have made many friends and have felt just a brush of what wonders it might have been if I had stayed long enough to be able to have integrated a little more into being considered a 'local foreigner'. my Love, the Sea... : My Lover, the awe inspiring, vast blue ocean, the little dots of ships, boats, all kinds of vessels, that bob and sail on her waters, the sunsets and sunrises, uninterrupted by concrete jungles.. the creatures that dwell in her belly.... poetry in motion.
